<p dir="ltr">Margaret Wellings' parents were farmers in Herefordshire. During the war, they took in many evacuees from London. One of these evacuees, Norman Hocknell, became a lifelong friend of Margaret's. When Margaret's daughter Sarah was born, Norman became her godfather.</p>
