My story is in the letters that I have in my possession that were sent from my Uncle to my Grandparents (about 50 in total, all on air mail paper). My Uncle was killed by friendly fire during the Allied attack on Monte Cassino. Obviously he could not say where he was at the time, but the letters are an insight into what life was actually like while the troops were making their way to Monte Cassino.
