online resource

Edward Parson (1924-2016) was known as Tubby throughout his life. He had joined the volunteer reserve on 13 March 1942 at the age of seventeen years.

He served in Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1943 to 1945. He went to South Africa to train as a pilot in 1943. Thereafter, he remained there to train other pilots. His 'flying history' shows the summary of his war service. He returned to England in July 1945 and was demobbed that November.

He flew thrice afterwards- in 1964, 1993 and 1997. This was recreational and not part of army service.
