Edward Reginald Williams' diary

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 16:39 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

Contributor's father's diary. Secret. PoW by Japanese. Wrote on toilet paper, brought back to England. Contributor's cousin typed the written diary up so more readable.

Telling the family what he was doing and asking about them. Personal.

Omutu in Japan. 3.5 years as PoW, 1941-5.

Father saw things that weren't necessarily reported correctly in media. More people realise it's important to read between the lines. Mother was an evacuee.
