Leslie Bryant (father), before war worked in Goods Store in Basingstoke, and was a semi-professional footballer. Joined RAF and in 1941 moved to Squadron 71 'Eagle Squadron' which was populated by American Pilots where he worked as ground crew repairing Spitfire engines. Never spoke about the war afterwards and never left England after 1945. Mother had been too young to serve in the war but remembers planes going overhead and hiding from them.
