'On the birthday of some martyrs']
1. Beatorum solemnitas martyrum, et exspectatio sanctitatis uestrae de nobis sermonem flagitat.
'The feast of the blessed martyrs, and the expectation of your holinesses, insists on a sermon from me.'
In what follows Augustine presents his general reflections on martyrdom and does nor refer to any specific martyrs or their cult.
