Source

Reportedly framed by a large rectangle or a tabula ansata. There is no published description. Seen by William Waddington in the 1860s, and first published by him 1870 with virtually no comments. The inscription is scheduled for re-redition in the sixteenth volume of Inscriptions grecques et latines de la Syrie, under no. 906.

Discussion

The inscription invokes Mary (if this is not a donor's name, e.g. ̣Κ̣υρὰ | Μαρία/'Kyra Maria') and certainly the Archangel Michael. We do not know if the Archangel *Gabriel was also mentioned, but this is plausible, as the three figures often occur together. Dating: there is no reliable way to date the text, but in this region invocations of Mary and Michael are characteristic of the 6th and 7th centuries.
