Limestone lintel. Decorated with a low-relief carving of a circle or a wreath supported by two angels and containing a cross. The inscription is written in two columns, on both sides of the circle. To the right of the second column there was a carving of another circle.

Discussion

Dating: the date is computed according to the Seleucid era. Its year 803 and the month of Loos correspond to AD 493. Mouterde notes that the bishop Kyros mentioned in our inscription might be Kyros of Mariamme, the homonymous subscriber of a petition of Syriac bishops sent to the patriach of Constantinople John II the Cappadocian in 518 against the miaphysite patriarch of Antioch Severos. It is possible that this Kyros was already in office in 493.
