E00964: White marble capital with a carving of *Mary (Mother of Christ, S00033) with her Child. Found at Herakleia Pontike (Honoriad, northern Asia Minor). Probably late antique.

The capital's cross section is square, W. 0.26 m. There are inscribed labels (letter height 0.02 m) to the right and to the left of the head of the depicted woman. Based on these labels Walter Ameling rightly identified the mother and child as the Virgin Mary and Jesus.
