Margaret Lumsden (1905-1990) lived in Streatham. She worked as an occupational therapist in London and later, 1942 onwards, in Birmingham. She was the ARP warden in Streatham and used bells to warn people. She met her husband-to-be, Robert Williams, at Birmingham Accident Hospital. He was a general physician at the hospital, specializing in bacteriology. He was one of the early adopters of penicillin to treat civilians during the war. He also researched on hospital infections.
