David Clarke - African service

online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 18:21 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

David Clarke was born in 1912 and died in 1979. He had worked for The Ottoman Bank before (and after) the war in their Mediterranean and African branches. He was in the OCTU and then the Dorsetshires. He was a keen photographer and during the war served, likely in a logistics role, in Abbassia, Malta, Mogadishu, and other locations. His photos tell the story of the many non-combat roles that supported the war effort.
