A rough rectangular billet of bronze, one side flat, the other rounded - the ends appear to have been ground down to adjust the weight. No marks.Roach Smith in Collectanea antiqua weighs 100 grains. Ashmolean Museum weight 6,456.The scales and weights M 6926.1-15 and probably also M 6926.16 are stated to have been found by the side of a skeleton (Roach Smith 1854, 12-13). The object was missing when Christopher Scull studied M 6926 first-hand in 1984 (C J Scull pers. comm.) – B.B.
