Bronze tweezers, l. 6.3cm. Stout spring loop with vertical grooves; broad tapering blades dec. on both sides with groups of transverse grooves and lines of punched ornament. Also some faceting at sides. Loop at top hemispherical, grooved lengthwise and attached through prepared lobe by means of a bolt.Saxon? If so, probably E. Anglian because of loop attachment like that of girdle hangers. No card.Mayer Index card and gatty slip do exist for this object. Both indicate that the tweezers are from Temple Place, Strood, Kent and that they were presented Humphrey Wickham, Esq. Also, reference is made to Collectiana antiqua vol. III, pl. XXXIV. – D.H.
