Bronze radiate brooch, length 5.7cm. Three-part knobs, headplate with grooved border enclosing crude double spiral motive - zig-zag down sides of bow; alternating diagonal and chequer motifs at side of foot. Hole pierced in top of head, 2 rivet-holes with iron remaining at top of foot, probably attempt to replace catchplate. On back of head double attachment lugs with remains of iron spring-coil.Late 5th/early 6th-century continental type. – B.B.
