Copper-alloy coin weight (no. 8)

Originally a Roman coin, but faces and edges ground down to adjust the weight. On one face four small spots bored in.Roach Smith in Collectanea antiqua weighs 145 grains. Ashmolean Museum weight 9,333.The scales and weights M 6926.1-15 and probably also M 6926.16 are stated to have been found by the side of a skeleton (Roach Smith 1854, 12-13). – B.B.
