Roman coin, edges heavily ground away to adjust weight, front obv. and rev. faces worn, possibly deliberately. On obverse, on the head, 3 spots put on with edge of chisel, in triangular pattern.Roach Smith in Collectanea antiqua weighs 145 grains. Ashmolean Museum weight 9,250.The scales and weights M 6926.1-15 and probably also M 6926.16 are stated to have been found by the side of a skeleton (Roach Smith 1854, 12-13). – B.B.
