Copper-alloy and iron spiked ferrule with wood remains
Bronze(?) cylinder, diam. 2cm. It encloses a central iron rod surrounded by wood, and is open at one end and closed at the other. An iron spike (damaged), projects from closed end. The cylinder is decorated with 4 pairs of grooves, and is much stained with iron rust.Probably a ferrule of a staff or even a spear (cf. Kingston Down grave 111) or less probably a cylindrical lock.
