online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 19:46 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

Mother, Connie Whiting, served in the 93rd regiment of the ATS operating searchlights. She set up searchlights on VE day for the nighttime celebrations. During the war colours changed each day to highlight enemy aircraft. Her original assignment was to give out garments. Trained at Guildford Cathedral. Other information is given on digitised sheets. Large houses allowed women to have hot baths, which was much appreciated!
