Childhood Memories of the War - Margaret King

<p dir="ltr">8 years old when the war started. Two younger sisters - born in 1935 and 1937. Mother invited lots of evacuees for tea. New Zealand soldiers performed the haka on the lawn one day - a terrifying sight. Father went to Bristol to train engineers to make aeroplane engines. The family car was a large green Morris 2.0. Mother was a bad driver. Mother threw chocolate bars to passing soldiers in army vehicles. Left the family home when it was commandeered.
