Spindle whorl, l. 4.2cm. Made of clay with fine to medium quartz or flint grits - some grog possibly, fired to pale grey brown shading to dark grey. Surface well smoothed and possibly burnished, but the whole has been treated in some way. Biconical, with regular vertical flutings; perforation 7mm diam.Fabric looks A.S. Form resembles a Melon bead. Some 7th c. pots are similarly fluted. Probably from Faussett cemeteries. No details.
