I published my father's letters in a book called "Censored. The Personal War Travelogue of a WWII Artillery Officer in the Middle East, Africa and Italy." It is available on Amazon. It is beautifully written by a very young man at the time . He spent 6 years in the Royal Artillery, 4 overseas. The battles of Salerno and Monte Cassino are described. There are fascinating insights into daily life during the war in Italy, Iraq, Tunisia and Cairo. It's funny, romantic, tragic, descriptive and optimistic. He never seemed to think he would be killed. He had a wonderful life during the war and made the most of the opportunities to travel and see the world. He went sight-seeing when he could and he went to dances, concerts, operas and shows whenever he could. His war time was exciting and interesting.
