Peter served in the army in Burma 1941-46, much of his time behind the lines as part of the 98th Field Company (Royal Bombay Sappers and Miners), then with the 36th Brigade, 26th Indian Division in the Arakan Campaign on Ramree Island and at Rangoon. He wrote a book "Changing in Times" in which he recounts his whole life including this formative time.
