Harold Elliott worked in the steel industry in Birmingham. During WW2 he was responsible for building Bailey Bridges used during the Allied invasion of Europe in 1944. In 1946 he was part of a delegation which visited Cologne to assess which pieces of German machinery should be claimed by the UK as 'war reparations'.
