I lived in Lincoln. There were lots of bombs in Lincolnshire because there were RAF bases there, and the docks at Grimsby. We had evacuees from London. Everybody had to have a gas mask and had to do drills at school. I had a Micky Mouse one, because I was only a child.

We played games in the playground at school and in the street when we got home. Everybody listened to the news on the wireless. I liked [the song] "You are my Sunshine"
[Pat then sang it, all through and other residents joined in! Her face lit up at the memory. MR]
