online resource
posted on 2024-06-05, 19:59 authored by Their Finest Hour Project Team

Stanley Albert Manning was originally from Gainsborough in Lincolnshire and served in the Home Guard.

As Bombardier, and later Lance Bombardier S.A. Manning (14874088), he later served with artillery units in India between 1945 and 1948, an experience he did not enjoy being a local lad from a small town in Lincolnshire.

On his return to the UK, he completed an apprenticeship as a fitter with Marshall Sons & Company in his home town as part of a Ministry of Labour and National Service Scheme.
