This tumulus was of the middle size, and plainly appeared to have been already dug into; and, on inquiry, I was informed that about the year 1765 some labourers employed in widening the road leading down to Bishopsbourne, before mentioned (on the south-east corner of which it stands), dug away a great part of it, and found some human bones and some pieces of rusty old iron.
