Bernard Dolan, Electrical Artificer 3rd class, missing in action 30 March 1944

Bernard was the second oldest of nine children and had just one brother, also in the Navy. After he joined up and trained, he married, and because his mother disapproved of his wife they parted on bad terms. This made his loss even worse for her and she sank into a deep depression that lasted until her death in 1962.
