Basil Lowe, POW

Basil Lowe, born in 1925 served as a Private (14553203) with the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry during the Second World War.

Posted as Missing in Action on the 4th October, 1943, he had in fact been captured at Anzio in Italy. He was sent to POW camp in Bavaria, Germany, Stalag 7a where he spent the rest of the war.

Basil was demobbed on the 30th September, 1947 and post-war worked for Tomatoland in Malvern, one of the foremost horticultural businesses in the country, a place of employment where he also met his wife.
