John Slee was sent to India as a bandsman with the Devonshire Regiment (240398) Private, he played the cornet. John received medals for Voluntary Service, Great War and 14-18 Medal. On his return to Belfast he married his cousin Edith Slee and on the Marriage Entry it states John was Active in France as a Bandsman with the Devonshire Regiment, so is this where the Trench Art pencil holder came from that the family have?
