William Charles Goodman was in the Royal Marine Light Infantry PO/6881. He joined on 10th August 1893. He was a First Class Gunner Layer and Sight Setter. Whilst working on convoy duties off America his ship was torpedoed, he joined a new ship and continued working for the Navy. He was due to retire in August 1914 but was asked "where do you think you are going, there's a war on!" So did not retire until 5th April 1919.
