970: Harry and Fred Painter

Harry Painter, the contributor's great uncle, was born in 1892 and joined a cavalry regiment in 1915. Initially sent to Salonika, Harry survived the war but was killed by a mule during shoeing.

Fred Painter, another of the contributor's great uncles, was born in 1896 and joined the Somerset Light Infantry before being transferred to the Devonshire Regiment (6th Battalion). Fred was sent to Mesopotamia.
