Joseph was a draper, who worked most of his life in Ashton under Lyme. He joined the Army quite early on. He was in the Lancashire and Cheshire Border Regiment. His service wasn't talked about. He chose not to go back to Aston after the war and lived in Greater London. Soon after his wife died he shot and killed himself with a pistol. This was in 1953. There was an inquest held. I was a child at the time and it wasn't spoken about. All of these items came from Joseph, passed to his half-brother, my father, after he died.
