Discusses virtues of writing and writing verse in particular in pen vs. pencil, as a soldier / includes 'After Music' / notes that the mail arrived while writing the poem / concerned about a package sent to France and possibly lost / reports that Annie Drummond, a VAD nurse at the hospital, has borrowed his copy of F.W. Harvey's 'Gloucester Friends' / discusses the volume.
