87577: Base Details

Manuscript of poem in gray and blue ink in Siegfried Sassoon's hand. This is a clean copy without corrections. Sassoon notes on the facing page that the poem was published in 'The Cambridge Magazine' on 28th April [1917] and reprinted in 'The Herald' on 20th May [1917]. Included in a notebook containing manuscript drafts and clippings of various poems later published in 'Counter-Attack and Other Poems' (1918), some with notes in Sassoon's hand explaining additional places of publication.
