Siegfried Sassoon notes on the facing page that the poem had been published in 'The Hydra', the journal edited by Sassoon at the Craiglockhart War Hospital, as well as in 'The Muse in Arms'. Included in a notebook containing manuscript drafts and clippings of various poems later published in 'Counter-Attack and Other Poems' (1918), some with notes in Sassoon's hand explaining additional places of publication
