William Pike Taylor was born 22 April 1894. He went to The Queen's College, Oxford on a Maths scholarship. He enlisted in October 1915 and joined the 6th Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment as a second lieutenant. He served in France and was killed in action during the Battle of Arras, 3 May 1917.
