Swinton and Pendlebury Urban District Council testimonial recognition of Private Frederick Averill in 1920. In recognition of his ''conspicious gallantry under heavy fire at Givenchy.'' Frederick served in the King's Own Royal Lancaster (55th West Lancashire Division) and he won the military medal on April 9th 1918 at Givenchy.

Born in 1881, he died in 1958 and lived in Northwreps.
