8468: John Stanners' Oral History

John Stanners served with the Royal Scots during World War One.

In 1985, at the request of his son, he recorded a series of tapes where he shared his experiences of his time during the war including how a poster influenced him to join the army, arriving in Marseille, battles at the Somme and Passchendaele, and a Christmas truce.
