<p dir="ltr">Mabel Young volunteered as a nurse at the Princess Louise Hospital during the war.</p>
<p>She was engaged to be married to Bertie, who served in the Armed Forces, possibly as a Cameronian. While Mabel survived the war, Bertie was killed during the last battle of Ypres.</p>
