8355: Harold John Steff

online resource
posted on 2024-01-17, 13:35 authored by Lest We Forget Project Team

Harold served in the army and fought at Passchendaele but was injured at the Battle of Cambrai whilst rescuing some of his friends, and this allowed him to be sent home where he stayed for the remainder of the war. His military records where lost in a fire so some information has been lost. He served in Suffolk regiment but was in a different regiment before this and after the war worked at Vauxhall cars. Apparently he was issued with an illustrated book about grenades - how to make them and how to throw them.
