7753: Remembering Lieutenant William Alan Ure

Lieutenant William Alan Ure, grandson of Lord Provost of Glasgow and nephew of Lord Strathclyde, died as the results of wounds received in action at the age of 23.

His brother, Colin McGregor Ure, was then a Prisoner of War in Germany, and had been for two years.

Object(s)

A mourning card from the Ure family thanking people for their sympathy following the death of their son. The card was bought at a sale by a collector of wartime memorabilia. Two newspaper cuttings, one from the Evening Times, confirming details of Lieutenant Ure's death were subsequently discovered.
