Sidney Charles McLennan was my grandfather. He was born on 24/10/1896 at Banchory Ternan, Kincardineshire, Scotland, the son of William McLennan and Mary Black McLennan née McGillivray. They lived at Rosebank Cottage, Banchory Ternan. He served in the 4th Seaforth Highlanders with service number 3239 and in the Tank Corps with service number 91625. He went to France on 21/08/1915. He was discharged on 20/03/1919.

His brothers James Alexander, William and Douglas George served in the war. William died but the others survived. I have photographs of the various brothers taken between 1914 and 1916. I have one of Sidney Charles McLennan in uniform wearing a kilt. Another image has two photographs: Sidney Charles McLennan is on the right wearing trews and his young brother Bert (Robert Milne McLennan) is on the left. I have a photograph of a bayonet fighting class with the Seaforth and Cameron Brigade; Sidney Charles McLennan is on the 2nd row, 7th from right. I have another photograph of him at a convalescence hospital in 1916 after injuring his right hand. It is unknown where the hospital was.
