William Staniforth served in the war with the 279th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. He joined in 1915, possibly underage (the contributor wasn't sure of his date of birth). He served during the Battle of Passchendaele. He survived and was discharged in 1919.
As William had drunk Moet champagne during the war, he refused to drink any other brand after it.
