online resource
posted on 2024-01-12, 12:10 authored by Lest We Forget Project Team

This story has been passed down from the contributor's grandmother, who did not really speak about the war.

David Alexander died while trying to defuse a German bomb. His daughter remembers her mother receiving the telegram.

David left four sons and a daughter. Two of the sons had to work to provide for the family. Their uncles paid for David's daughter to go to private school.

The contributor's grandmother's two brothers also died in the war.
