7283: Herefordshire Regiment, D Company: nominal roll of men proceeding abroad

online resource

This is a printed list of the men of D Company, Herefordshire Regiment who left the UK for the eastern Mediterranean in July 1915, sailing from Devonport on the Euripedes. The regiment landed at Suvla Bay (Gallipoli) on 9 August. This copy of the list belonged to Lance Corporal John Emlyn James, of Llandrindod Wells, Radnorshire, who had joined the regiment in September 1914. The handwritten comments are probably in his handwriting. "England" indicates that a man had been evacuated to the UK for treatment, either for wounds or for illness.
