68689: Letter: To Mrs Garnett

Nancy Garnett was a friend and neighbour of Vera Brittain in Buxton. When Nancy's brother Jerry died at Gallipoli, he was buried at Pieta Military Cemetery in Malta. Vera, who was stationed nearby as a VAD, visited his grave and wrote to the parents a four page letter of condolence. She describes the location, and apologies for such a lengthy letter but in the absence of being able to visit her own fiance's grave (Roland Leighton) she knows how grateful she is when others can visit it and tell her about it. She hopes that her letter brings them comfort.
