Included in a notebook containing manuscript drafts and clippings of various poems later published in 'Counter-Attack and Other Poems' (1918), some with notes in Sassoon's hand explaining additional places of publication.
Note in black ink in Siegfried Sassoon's hand explaining that the poem 'The Rear-Guard' had been published in 'The Hydra', the journal edited by Sassoon at the Craiglockhart War Hospital, on 15th September 1917 as well as in 'The Muse in Arms'.
