Manuscript in red and black ink in Edmund Blunden's hand. Corrections also in red and black ink. Published in 'Masks of Time' (1925) and 'Undertones of War' (1928). In these volumes the poem is published under a longer title: 'E. W. T.: on the death of his Betty'. The title refers to the experience of Ernest Tice, a friend of Edmund's from Christ's Hospital who lost a lover. Tice was killed on 31 July 1917.
