Manuscript in black ink in Ivor Gurney's hand. Numerous versions of the poem exists in notebooks and letters. This version was included in P.J. Kavanagh's 'Ivor Gurney: Collected Poems' (2004). A shorter draft of the poem appears in 'War's Embers' (1919) with the inscription 'To the memory of Edward Thomas'.
