Manuscript in pen in Ivor Gurney's hand. A longer version of the poem exists in the pink manuscript exercise book 64.1. The shorter draft found here was printed in 'The London Mercury' in 1924. Found in a green hard-covered manuscript exercise book, marked 'The Note Book / (between music makings) / of Ivor Gurney / 1921-1922 / 'corrected Feb 1925' / 'Ivor Gurney''.
